After a decade of partnering with charity Malaria No More UK, Rentokil Initial is now proud to be a supporting partner in the Draw The Line Against Malaria campaign, which features a campaign film that showcases talent and energy emanating out of Africa. Through the film, youth are invited to lead the charge to end one of the world’s oldest and deadliest diseases within their lifetimes.

Rentokil Initial has been active in Sub-Saharan Africa for more than 50 years, providing pest and hygiene services that protect people and enhance lives.  This support of the Draw The Line campaign is an extension of the business’s commitment to global efforts to end malaria – a disease that is caused by mosquitos, one of the deadliest pests of all.  By realising the goal of zero malaria in a generation we can create a healthier, fairer world where everyone can be free from the impacts of this disease and prosper.

The Muundo - At the heart of the campaign and film is a fresh new universal visual language made up of lines, symbols, and patterns, called the ‘Muundo’. It has been created by acclaimed Nigerian artist, activist, and human rights lawyer, Láolú Sebanjo and presents an eye-catching representation of the actions that are needed to end malaria once and for all.  People from across cultures and continents are invited to show their solidarity by using the Muundo to add their own unique “line” of support to a growing piece of crowdsourced artwork, which will represent a visual call to action to world leaders at the Malaria and NTD Summit on 24 June 2021 on the eve of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.

To ensure this important message that we need to empower youth and unite to end malaria, is heard around the world, Rentokil Initial will be using its global footprint, large employee base, and digital platforms to raise awareness of the campaign, and has provided financial support. In Africa, activities include re-branding its vehicles to feature the unique visual identity of the campaign.

Additionally, 2,000 Rentokil Initial colleagues have come together to undertake a 9,000km virtual Race to Kigali (the distance between Rentokil Initial HQ and Kigali). The 100 teams are taking part from across Rentokil Initial including America, Latin America, Australia, Asia, Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Caribbean, Africa, and head office teams. There is also a Board of Directors team with the Chairman, CEO and Board of Directors joining colleagues from around the world.  By combining the efforts of colleagues walking, running, or cycling, each team will virtually reach the distance to Kigali by the UN’s World Malaria Day on 25 April 2021.
